Built to Refine: A Full-Scale Test of Process and Precision
This project was more than a creative challenge—it was a commitment to process, refinement, and client empathy. At KBB & Associates, we live by a principle I carried over from my days in software quality engineering: “dogfooding”—using our own product to improve it continuously. That mindset shaped this entire initiative.
The home itself was a large-scale luxury design—six bedrooms, six bathrooms, multiple living areas, a home theater, a maid's suite, and several outdoor terraces. The CAD plans were delivered in PDF format, which meant every element had to be modeled from scratch—a slower, more meticulous process that allowed us to own each detail fully.
My goal was to step into the shoes of a client: to simulate the experience of managing a high-stakes home design and discover what systems needed to evolve. I curated every finish, fixture, and furnishing—room by room—imagining a real family living in the space. From the teen boy’s room to the mother-in-law suite, the spaces weren’t just beautiful—they had soul and purpose. The children’s room featured a crib, the master suite included dual walk-in closets, and the open-concept garage gave the home a contemporary edge inspired by international design.
Every area was visualized with multiple camera angles to reflect what we also provide our real clients: not just a single snapshot, but a complete, immersive story. While the terraces were completed during this first phase, the exterior of the home was intentionally left minimal—without full landscaping or curb appeal—highlighting how real-life projects often come in stages. (That part of the journey continues in Part Two.)
This was about more than design. It was about pressure-testing our workflow and scaling our approach. The clarity, confidence, and execution our clients experience? It’s because we’ve lived the process ourselves—and reengineered it with intention.
