Masculine Meets Modern: A Finance-Inspired Office
When luxury real estate developer Kindle Martin set out to redesign her client Kenji Williams' newly purchased home, the office presented a unique challenge. It had no identity; we needed to create space for his books without adding more built-ins, as the home already had a significant number that occupied a lot of room. The space was elongated, and there was no light fixture—only exposed wiring and a bay window. Kenji required a professional environment that reflected his background in finance while also serving as a comfortable refuge for client meetings and focused work.
We began with a deep dive consultation to understand Kenji’s personality, goals, and daily use of the space. From there, we delivered a full-service 3D virtual renovation designed around Benjamin Moore’s Gentleman’s Gray—a bold, masculine shade that wrapped the space in sophistication. The far wall was painted in a rich brown tone (Bucktrout Brown) to add warmth and depth, which we matched with wall-to-wall shelving featuring a built-in fireplace, artfully styled books, and decor. This shelving provided the aesthetic of custom built-ins without adding bulk to a home that already had several.
Hanging above his executive desk and cognac leather chair, we hung dual modern smoky-gray dome pendants and a complementary abstract wooden barrel artwork in natural brown tones. The bay window became a cozy client zone, styled with two navy leather swivel chairs, a cream lambskin rug, and a sculptural side table—ideal for casual conversations or quiet moments.
To enhance privacy and sophistication, we added a set of modern rustic barn doors along the open wall and installed sleek black glass office doors for a contemporary architectural edge. The existing neutral wood floors were retained to ground the room and balance the vibrant color palette.
As always, our team at KBB & Associates provided a done-for-you experience, complete with a sourcing-ready materials list and detailed visual assets. Kenji and Kindle walked away with not just a stunning 3D visualization, but also full confidence in the design and all the tools they needed to bring it to life—no oversight required.
